Volunteerism grips NDC -Chairman

Accra, Feb 28, GNA - Dr. Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday commended the spirit of volunteerism that has gripped the party that people were willing to work for it win the December elections.

He said despite ridicule, sometimes in the glaring face of victimization from their political opponents, members of the NDC have remained resolute and faithful to the course and were even working harder.

Dr Adjei, who was presenting a key to one of the six pick-ups the party has acquired for use in the regions to Alhaji Abudulai Haruna Friday, said "the party was growing from strength." Alhaji Friday who is the driver to the vehicle allocated to the Northern Region is described as a devoted member of the party who has been working free for the party for years now.

Dr Adjei said the pick-ups were donations from pledges made when the party held its fund raising in September last year. He said the fact that people continue to donate to the party was a manifestation of the trust that they had in it and were appreciative of the significant democratization the party had undergone that it is not under the ownership of any individual and that everyone's contribution was being recognized.

"No wonder, the NDC is a mass party and that with its continued enlargement victory in December is assured", he said. Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, NDC National Organiser said the party was enjoying the goodwill of its "foot soldiers" whose commitment to nation-building was commendable.
