Volta region MDAs will perform better under my watch - Regional Minister

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, has assured that the Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in his jurisdiction would perform better on the 2018 UNICEF League Table.

Dr Letsa who was bitter on the positions of Volta MDAs on the 2016/2017 League Tables indicated that interventions are being implemented by the Volta Region Coordinating Council to ensure improved performance of the MDAs.

Dr Letsa gave the assurance at a press conference held in the regional capital, Ho.

“...we are expecting that the interventions that we are putting in place now will reflect on the 2018 League Table, so I can assure you that assemblies in the Volta Region will be performing much better on the 2018 League Table”, Dr Letsa added.

“I have made it known to the various Assemblies that our performance in 2016 was not good...the 2017 League Table was released yesterday and our best District was South Dayi, No. 43”

He noted that a Regional Monitoring Team has been set up to impress on the assemblies to deliver on their mandated duties by providing development at the local level to improve livelihood of residents.

“We have a very proactive regional monitoring team that goes round monitoring the Assemblies enhancing them to perform better so that we can do better in the provision of services to our various communities”.

Dr Letsa also reiterated the heightened level of corruption in the various assemblies per the 2016 audit report laid before him, and advised the Municipal District Chief Executives to seal all loopholes being used to siphon funds meant for development projects.
