Vodafone is donating a sum close to GHS50,000 to five traditional councils in Greater Accra as they prepare to celebrate the Homowo festival. The donation forms part of the company’s continuous support of key festivals in the country; a reflection of its deep ties with the communities in which it operates.
The five traditional councils are Teshie, Nungua, Osu, La and Ga Mashie. Already two of the five, Teshie and Nungua, have received their sums with the rest scheduled to take place within the coming weeks.
Commenting on the donation, Acting Sales and Marketing Director, Patricia Obo-Nai said:
“Ghana is a very strategic part of our outlook as a technologically relevant company. Over the years, our presence as a key partner in key traditional celebrations such as Odwira, Asafotufiam and Kundum, has elevated us in the eyes of Ghanaians and this is something we want to continue doing.”
The chiefs and people of the respective traditional councils expressed their appreciation to Vodafone for the support and also commended the company for introducing innovative products to empower its customers. Vodafone, in addition, presented SIM cards, airtime and other souvenirs to aid the traditional councils in their celebration.
The charitable arm of the telecommunications giant, Vodafone Ghana Foundation, will also offer free health screening for residence in La on Friday, 31st August.
