The opposition New Patriotic Party has launched its manifesto for the 2016 election at an event at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra. Despite a heavy downpour in the city earlier in the day, thousands of party faithful turned up at the event.

Highlights of the manifesto were delivered by leading party figures as well as the party's vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

The event was capped with a speech by the presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, who recited a poem for Ghana and vowed to make the NDC's 'Goliath' - referring to President John Mahama - fall in December.

Here are some video highlights from the event.

Dr. Bawumia delivered some sucker punches against President Mahama and his government, stressing that "Ghanaians are suffering" under the NDC.

The patriarch of the NPP, President John Kufuor, promised Ghanaians that the party's focus, if it wins, would be wealth creation.

Ahead of the manifesto launch, a picture of Nana Akufo-Addo sipping on Kalyppo sparked a social media phenomenon which led to a hike in the sale of the beverage, which is now being closely associated with the opposition party. These NPP supporters say an attempt to embarrass their leader has backfired.

..And then there's this American teacher resident in Kumasi who says Ghanaians should ignore the good looks of President Mahama and vote for Nana Addo because the NPP candidate has a "good heart".
