‘Victor Smith is no match for NPP in Abuakwa North’ - J B Danquah

Mr. Joseph Boakye- Danquah Adu, Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that Mr. Emmanuel Victor Smith, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary aspirant for the area does not pose a threat to the party in the constituency.

Mr. Boakye- Danquah said he was confident to retain the Abuakwa seat for the NPP and promised Mr. Smith a good run for his money ahead of the 2012 elections.

He said there was no way Mr. Smith could become a Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North because the NPP was solid on the ground and would retain the seat for the third conservative time for the party.

Mr. Boakye-Danquah urged the NPP supporters and sympathizers in the area to continue to work hard and remain vigilant and propagate the free Senior High School (SHS) policy of the NPP to the electorate.

He said considering the performance of the NPP government in the area during its eight- year rule, as against what he called abysmal performance of the NDC government, there was no way Mr Smith and the NDC could even increase their votes, let alone win the seat.

Mr. Boakye-Danquah said considering the development he brought to the people when he was the MP between 2005 and 2009, it was clear that the people would give him the mandate to represent them again.

He appealed to the people to be wary of negative propaganda from his political opponents who were making promises they could not fulfil.

Mr. Boakye-Danquah said he had contributed a lot to the people of the area in areas of education, health, electrification, scholarships and many more and urged the electorate to have faith in him in the forth- coming election.

He urged NPP supporters in the constituency to close their ranks and rally behind him and Nana Akufo Addo, the presidential candidate of the party, to win the election.

“Mr. Smith knows that his position as regional minister would not change the people’s mind to vote for him because he has already lost the election”, he said.
