Kumasi, July 12, GNA - Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday joined hundreds of Muslims to perform religious rites ending the funeral of Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Imran Musah.
Also present were former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and former government official.
They included Alhaji Collins Dauda, Transport Minister, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, Education Minister, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, Minority Leader, Dr Osei Akoto Afriyie, Kwadaso MP, Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive and Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadique, a former Minister.
Vice President Mahama eulogized the late Chief Imam for his sublime qualities of integrity, tolerance and humility. He encouraged all to accept to live with one another in total peace and harmony.
They should also lead pious lives, show compassion for the socially disadvantaged and to seek Allah's guidance in whatever they do.
Sheikh Imran Musah died at the age of 67, in Kumasi on Saturday, July 2, after a long battle with diabetes and was buried on the same day in accordance with Islamic tradition.
He was installed the Regional Chief Imam on February 15, 2002. Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Mumin II, 61, has been appointed by the Council of Ulamau as his successor.
