Vetting of NPP Parliamentary aspirants begins on Saturday

Accra, March 23, GNA - Vetting of Parliamentary aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be held simultaneously across the country from Saturday, March 26 to Tuesday, March 29.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, National Chairman of NPP said all aspiring candidates mus= t subject themselves to the vetting process within the stipulated period. It asked all Regional Secretariats to communicate the day, time, venue and the group to all aspirants latest by Thursday, March 24 through the Constituency Parliamentary Elections Committee (PEC).

The statement said vetting would be conducted by representatives of th= e National, Regional and the Constituency PEC with Constituency Executives in attendance.

"The decision of the Vetting Committee shall be known to all vetted aspirants by Thursday, March 31," it added.

The statement said Vetting Committees were to submit written reports o= n the vetting process to the Regional PEC by Thursday, March 31. It said on completion of the vetting each Constituency PEC should organise balloting for positions on the ballot paper for the various aspirants. The statement said officers of the party at all levels should not openly declare or show support for any candidate.
