Veep urges Air Chiefs to share resources

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has lauded the air force for the critical role it continues to play in combating crimes and security threats across the country.

A typical example, Mr Amissah-Arthur said, was the discovery of the activities of illegal small scale miners in remote areas of the country by the air force when flying.

The vice president made these remarks when a group of Air Chiefs from over ten African countries and the United States Air Force paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House in Accra on Wednesday.

He expressed government’s commitment to resource the Ghana Air Force in other to tighten their intelligence and surveillance capabilities to respond to threats and meet the needs of people.

Mr. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur urged the Air Chiefs to explore collaborative ways of sharing intelligence and resources for the benefit of their respective countries.

The Air Chiefs are attending the third Regional Air Chiefs Conference in Accra. The theme of the three day meeting is centered on the use of air power in warfare.

The conference would look at ways to confront terrorism, insurgency and security challenges on the continent as well as develop strategies for promoting peace and stability in Africa.
