Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on August 8, 2025 met with members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council to deliberate on issues arising from the tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
The fatal incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2925 in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, involved high-ranking government officials and military personnel. The victims were travelling to a mining event when the crash occurred.
In a statement posted on her X page, the Vice President said the Council, together with other government officials, visited the family of the late Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, to convey their condolences.
“Following the meeting, the Council and other government officials visited the home of our late colleague, the Minister for Defence, to offer our support to his family during this very difficult time,” she wrote.

She further expressed her deep sympathies to all affected families and urged the nation to remain united in grief.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this period of national mourning,” she added.

• Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
• Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central
• Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
• Dr Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
• Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate
• Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
• Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu
• Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
