VanefSTC Denies Allegation

Beleaguered VanefSTC has denied allegations that the company was hand picked to take over the operations of the state-owned transport corporation.

VanefSTC began its operation in the midst of allegations of impropriety in its acquisition of the State Transport Corporation (STC).

In an interview with Public Agenda, the Marketing Manager of VanefSTC, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe said the company went through a competitive bidding process with three other companies to acquire the State Transport Corporation.

Earlier, James Owusu Bonsu, Chief Executive Officer of VanefSTC Ltd., said told newsmen VanefSTC since it started operating on 1st June 2000 has been improving its operation.

The company reduced its 238 clerical staff to 110 and the engineering staff of 142 to 93. It however employed 15 more drivers in addition to the 158 it inherited. The company has increased the number of trips as well as its revenue.
