Used Auto Parts dealers to flush-out fraudsters

Accra, Sept. 02, GNA - The Association of Used Auto Parts Dealers (ASUAPAD) on Thursday resolved to expose and flush-out fraudsters operating in the industry.

"The operations of some fraudsters in the used auto parts business who usually collaborate with charlatan mechanics to take advantage of ignorant car owners is denting the image and sales portfolio of the genuine dealers," Mr Siaw Ampadu, ASUAPAD Chairman told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra.

ASUAPAD is a non-governmental, non-political business entity which seeks to create an enabling environment for used auto parts dealers to operate and serve as a platform for engaging policy makers including the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

He said the Association would initiate a public awareness campaign throughout the country to educate the motoring public on the activities of the fraudsters.

"We are also encouraging and sensitizing ASUAPAD members on modern marketing trends in the industry, especially on how to assist clients find high performing auto parts for the right price.

"We are committed to creating the best shopping experience possible for our clients to get their parts fast, reduce the rate of meandering through the market and create a friendly environment for engagement," he said.

Mr Ampadu refuted speculations that the Association is anti-government. "We believe in private-public-partnership, and would continue to work in the supreme interest of mother Ghana, contribute to the policy direction of the government of the day towards creating jobs and especially in the absolute interest of used auto parts dealers".

He said ASUAPAD members would continue to work for the unity and development of used auto parts dealers at Abossey Okai in particular and other parts of the country to ensure that dealers were not marginalised.

Mr Ampadu appealed to other associations in the industry to collaborate for industrial peace for development especially at Abossey Okai.
