The Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area in the Central Region, Osabarima Kwesi Atta, has urged the Government to use the policy summit to engage the citizenry and explain its programmes to them.

He made the call when a delegation from the Ministry of Information led by Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah, a Deputy Minister of Information, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Cape Coast.

The delegation was at the palace to formally brief the Omanhene and his chiefs about the Sixth National Policy Summit taking place at the University of Cape Coast from May 26 to 27.

Osabarima Kwesi Attah lauded government and the Information Ministry for the initiative, noting that, the platform was a good communication channel between the people and government.

He said the topics outlined for discussion at the summit were appropriate and relevant and welcomed the decision to host the event in Cape Coast.

"The two main topics for the summit which includes sanitation and fisheries are very important to our people here. I am confident the cape coast edition will be one of the best," he added

The Deputy Information Minister, on her part, agreed on the need to constantly engage stakeholders and citizens through platforms like the policy summit.

She appealed to the chiefs to support the programme, which is one of the major events government relied on to get feedback from the people on government policies.

The summit is designed to bring together policy makers, business leaders, Industry players, academia and Civil Society Organisations among others, to brainstorm, interact and dialogue on topical national issues importance.

Some of speakers included Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Madam Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, and the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

The National Policy Summit is sponsored by UMB and Zoomlion.
