The Ghana Police Service, through the Upper West Regional Command, has engaged students and staff of Wa Senior High School (The Great WASEC) as part of efforts to promote safety, discipline, and peaceful coexistence in second-cycle institutions.

The engagement, led by the Regional Commander, DCOP Francis Yiribaare, took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, and brought together approximately 2,000 students and teachers.

The visit followed an incident during the school’s recent SRC Week celebration where some students were attacked. Seventeen suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently before the court.

Addressing the students, DCOP Yiribaare reassured them of the Police Service’s commitment to safeguarding schools across the Region. He emphasized that schools must remain safe spaces for learning and personal development, not grounds for violence, vandalism, or drug-related activities.

He urged students to remain focused on their academic goals, resolve differences peacefully, and uphold discipline and respect for authority.

He reminded them that their future begins with the choices they make today, stressing that dedication, hard work, and responsible conduct are essential to achieving success.

The Headmaster, Alhaji Iddrisu Thirdman, expressed appreciation to the Police for their continued support and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to collaborating with law enforcement to maintain discipline.
