The Upper West Regional Police Command on Friday, December 12, 2025, held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Regional Police Headquarters in Wa to honour police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The solemn ceremony brought together senior security officials, government representatives, and families of the fallen officers to remember their sacrifice and service to the nation.

Among the dignitaries present were the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Pozuing Esq, the Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Yiribaare, the Upper West Regional Prisons Commander, DDP Osumani Tasembedo, and the Upper West Regional Fire Service Commander, ACFO Boadi.

Bereaved families of the deceased officers were also in attendance, participating in the ceremony and paying tribute to their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in the course of duty.

The memorial service was officiated by Rev. Karim Awuni, who delivered a solemn exhortation, encouraging both the families and police personnel to remain steadfast and hopeful.

He underscored the values of sacrifice, dedication, and selfless service, describing the fallen officers as heroes whose commitment to duty continues to inspire the Ghana Police Service.

The ceremony featured prayers, tributes, and symbolic honours in remembrance of the departed officers. It was conducted in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere, with all scheduled activities successfully observed.
