Upper West NPP youth reacts to Prof. Wayo Seini

Wa, March 15, GNA- The Upper West Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed the decision of Professor Alhassan Wayo Seini, a former second national vice-chairman of the party, to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

They said, his resignation to join the NDC in another election year was a "recipe for the NPP's victory in this year's election and consequently the end of the NDC as a major political force".

"We surely believe that the resignation of Professor Seini as a national party executive did the magic for our victory in 2000."

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Labibu Issah the regional youth organiser, and released on Friday.

The statement advised the youth of Dagbon and the entire North of the country to prepare for the utterances of Prof. Seini.

"The youth must know that for now, Prof. Seini cannot offer Dagbon and the youth of the North anything apart from whipping up ethnic sentiments as the nation prepares for the December elections."

The statement advised him to desist from blending his political activities with the events at Dagbon and the North in general.

"As much as the NPP would want to have intellectuals like Prof. Seini in its fold, it would not sacrifice this on the interest of self-seeking individuals", the statement said.

The statement questioned whether Prof. Seini was not aware that the "killer of 'Kume Preko' demonstrators" were known but walked freely on the streets of Accra.
