Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has criticised the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, over his recent "Thank You Tour" across the country.
The three-day tour, scheduled for September 17 to 19, 2025, will cover 16 constituencies in the Eastern Region.
According to the party, it is an appreciation exercise aimed at acknowledging the contributions of party executives, cadres and grassroots organisers who played significant roles in the NDC's victory in the 2024 general elections.
Party officials insist the programme is solely intended to celebrate and encourage the party's base for their efforts; however, Ras Mubarak has argued that "Thank You Tours" are traditionally led by presidential or parliamentary candidates and not by a national chairman.
'What is it for exactly? - Social media users question Asiedu Nketiah over 'Thank You Tour'
He accused Asiedu Nketiah of setting a dangerous precedent and causing what he described as an unnecessary distraction to the ruling NDC government.
Taking to social media on September 17, 2025, Mubarak wrote, "Thank You Tours are led by candidates (Presidential or Parliamentary, if it's a constituency tour) who lead a party into an election in partnership with party executives.
"Never in the history of the NDC has a National Chairman, after a victory, embarked on a 'Thank You Tour' aside from what the flagbearer, in collaboration with the party, has done or is doing.
"This is a dangerous precedent and an unnecessary distraction to the government. Nobody must be allowed to hide under a 'Thank You Tour' to advance premature presidential ambitions. It is intolerable and the Chairman must be bluntly told."
