Some unknown individuals believed to be national security operatives, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, locked the office of the Human Resource Manager at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) with chains and padlocks, preventing access.
According to a video shared by Joy FM and sighted by GhanaWeb on X, Anthony Kofi Oduro, the HR Manager, is said to have returned from a meeting on Tuesday only to find his office sealed off, with warning tags left behind.
Some of the messages sighted in the video read: "Workers are working under a toxic environment, withdraw your service now or face our wrath," "Tony must go," and "KATH workers deserve better."
In the video, security personnel, along with the police and regional security liaison, supervised the removal of the locks to restore access.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Regional Security Coordinator, Alhaji Nje Abdullah Omar, who is said to be aware of the act, denied any authorisation of the act and assured that a joint investigation with the police was underway to identify those responsible.
He clarified, "We don't have any idea about it. Captain Jabari [Regional Security Coordinator] says we have not sanctioned anyone to come and do what just happened.”
The incident, according to the news portal, caused shock and confusion among hospital staff, leaving workers stranded and uncertain about the motive behind the attack.
"We cannot justify if this is an internal matter, but the investigation will determine. The HR wasn't around when they came to lock up the office, so he was shocked, and I have calmed him down," Alhaji Nje Abdullah Omar added.
