University of Ghana suspends five students

The Academic Board of the University of Ghana has suspended five students found to be involved in examination malpractices during the first Semester Examination of the 1999-2000 academic year.

All five students were barred from taking any University examinations for four semesters including that within which the offence was committed. A statement issued by the University mentioned the offenders as Francis Atoo Asigri, (No10031720) and Edward Otoo-Adams (No.10020232) both level 300 students on the BSc Administration programme and residents of the Akuafo and Mensah Sarbah Halls respectively.

The others are Amin Mohammed Abdullah (No 10040915) level 200 of the BA programme in Arabic, Philosophy and Political Science and resident of the Akuafo Hall, Eugene Frempong Asante (No. 10029470) and resident of the Legon Hall and Linda Addo, (No. 10048877) resident of the Volta Hall. Both are Level 200 Diploma students pursuing Statistics and Library Studies respectively.

The statement said following the determination of their impropriety the students were all awarded a "Grade Z" in the examination. This is a fail grade awarded when it is established that a candidate has attempted to gain unfair advantage in the examinations.
