MIHOSO International, a health-centred non-governmental organisation (NGO) is collaborating with the College for Community and Organisational Development (CCOD) to intensify public education on COVID-19 to stem its spread in Bono East and Upper West regions.

CCOD is a Sunyani-based private technical university affiliated to the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.

Already, the two institutions have supported the Jirapa Municipal, Lawra Municipal and the Nandom Municipal Health Directorates in Upper West Regions with COVID-19 preventable items.

They have also supplied similar items such as Veronica Buckets, soaps, sanitizers to the Kinatmpo North and Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Assemblies and the Kintampo South, Pru and Sene West District Assemblies to aid and strengthen the nationwide handwashing with soap campaign.

Dr. Gabriel Gbiel Benarkuu, the President of CCOD in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on Tuesday said the two organisations had also provided sanitary tippy taps and quantities of sanitizers to radio Upper West in Wa and Radio BAR in Sunyani.

He explained CCOD and MIHOSO had intensified COVID-19 education in the entire Upper West Region by reaching out to people in rural areas who seemed to be neglected in the COVID -19 campaign.

“We also welcome the call of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for Ghanaians to practice social distancing in our communities in order to prevent the COVID-19 spread. We again support the temporary ban on social gatherings”, Dr. Benarkuu added.
