Unity of Nkrumaist Parties unlikely - Dedey

A united Nkrumaist Party, as a political force in fourth republic Ghana is unlikely, Mr Kosi Dedey, a once frontline member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the fourth republic has predicted.

He was giving his impression on the current political landscape in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Ho.

Mr Dedey asserted that rather than being committed to, and guided by principles, personalities and parties involved in such unity projects rather concerned themselves with who should hold which positions.

He said as a result parties and some personalities involved lent themselves to manipulation by the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party to satisfy their limited interests.

Mr Dedey said previous unity initiatives were short-lived because people were more focused on the spoils.

He said “we have been at it for the past 10 years, especially as elections got near”.

Mr Dedey said questions of accountability and transparency in governance in the forth republic reflect the internal workings of the political parties.
