Unemployed graduate RNAC/RNAP Nurse’s 2017

Release our financial Clearance now or faced series of demonstration across the country.

Good morning to you all Ladies and gentlemen, we the coalition of Unemployed Graduates RNAC/RNAP Nurses Association wishes to call on the government to released our financial clearance as soon as possible. Friends of the media, we the coalition wake up to our supprise that financial Clearance has been released to 2017 diploma and degree nurses including private nurses.

Deputy Minister for health, Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban in an interview on city tv dated 4/04/2020 indicated that there is a financial Clearance given to diploma and degree nurses.

There came many associations who aided the fight, one of the groups that emerged was Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association – GUNMA headed by Mr. Sugri Abdul Rafiq – the president who is an RGN (Diploma Nurse).

The association made everyone believe their goal was clearance and postings for all but unfortunately, the RNAC/RNAP group of nurses should have thought otherwise. It is of no suprise that the degree nurses stated plainly that they wouldn’t associate with GUNMA.

The Executives of GUNMA has collaborated with MOH and possibly GRNMA to secure clearance for only the Diploma batch of 2017 neglecting the RNAC and RNAP who trusted so much in them, such a betrayal of their very people under their jurisdiction. We earlier stated that the degree nurses went on their very own fight and hence did not put their beautiful future into the hands of Sugri and his ‘gang’ of executive board.

Friends from the media 2017 group of Nurses were denied trainee allowance during their course of training, the then presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party and now President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo won the 2016 elections on the back of the promise of immediate employment for the 2017 batch of Nurses and Midwives but why the neglect of 2017 RNAC/RNAP batch of nurses.

Indeed struggle for employment with the Ministry of Health after completion of school in 2017 has been cock and hen stories , after all the promises Ministry of Health made us through our stakeholders engagement with them proved fatal.

Not long a go fellow ups were made to ministry of Health and a letter were shown to executives of Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association ( GUNMA) requests for financial Clearance for 2017 and 2018 group of nurses excluding 2017 RNAC/RNAP group of nurses and when we asked, that our list is already with Ministry of finance awaiting clearance, Friends from the media a lot of questions were asked as to where is a document indicating that our lists is with Ministry of Finance awaiting to be cleared by the MOF but to our surprised no single document were shown to us.

We can boldly say that after the 2017 group of RNAC/RNAP Nurses were denied trainee allowance during their course of training and after sitting in the house for a year with our skills delaying our colleagues diploma nurses were in the various hospitals across the country doing their mandatory national services with paid and not less Gh¢700 and yet after completing their national service financial clearance is granted to them leaving the the 2017 RNAC/RNAP group of Nurses who sat in the house for three years now at the mercy of sun.

Friends from the Media, ladies and gentlemen, please help us, asked the President of Ghana this simple question, Does the good people of mother’s Ghana still needs the services of RNAC/RNAP?

Leadership would like to register their disappointment on the efforts put up so far by the Human Resource Department of the Ministry of Health and GRNMA in the bid to secure our Financial Clearance and how woefully they have failed in fulfilling their promise on the part of 2017 RNAC/RNAP Graduates Nurse’s.

Friends from the Media, ladies and gentlemen. Ministry of health should bear in mind we are all graduate's and actually understand how the system works. We urge to tell Ministries to find another way of including the 2017 RNAC/RNAP group of nurses in the said clearance.

It is very obvious how important health professionals are to the country especially during the outbreak of COVID-19 and we as a group made up of thousands of unemployed Nurses have been ever ready to serve our mother Ghana in these trying times and beyond.

MOH should know that Ghana is currently under crises which push the country in to partial lockdown and we are law abiding citizens, We as an association shall advice ourselves and come out in our numbers to register our displeasure, should Government fail to respond to the above concerns and we will do this by a series of demonstration after the banned on social gatherings is lifted.

In the meantime, we humbly call on all RNAC/RNAP Nurses across the country to remain calm and resolute as we continue to engage the relevant authorities through dialogue and non-violence.
