UTAG threatens another strike

The leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has threatened another strike if its members’ research and book allowances are not paid by the end of the month.

The University lecturers just resumed work barely three weeks ago after a month long strike.

They suspended the strike after an agreement was reached between them and the government.

Vice President of UTAG, Kakraba Dakuru speaking to XYZ News said the lecturers will not hesitate to go on strike again if the government reneges on its promises.

In a related development, polytechnic lecturers are also threatening to strike if their research and book allowances owed them are not paid by the end of the month.

Vice President of the Polytechnic Teachers Association, Peter Awini, said their allowances have not been paid for the entire year.
