USAID grants 159 million cedis to three districts in Ashanti

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under its Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) project, has granted 159 million cedis for improvement of primary education in Ashanti.

Mr Samuel Amo-Nimoh, Project Manager of QUIPS-ILP, said this at a three-day management-training workshop, organised by USAID for 36 Education Officers from the three districts.

Under the project, 45 million cedis micro-grant will be disbursed to 15 Primary Schools in Atwima, Ahafo Ano North and Adansi East to support activities planned and initiated by the communities under the School Performance Improvement Plan (SPIP).

Mr Amo-Nimoh said quality education delivery was important for development, hence USAID's intervention to improve schools and raise the quality of education in the districts.

Personnel at the District Education Offices, he said, had been trained in proper management practices, planning, budgeting and effective monitoring and supervision to enhance quality education in the country.

Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, Atwima District Director of Education, said he was grateful to QUIPS-ILP for its contribution towards the improvement of education.
