Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Afram Plains under the Mahama administration Fuseini Donkor, claims the US military base is already under construction in Ghana though the NPP says the project is yet to begin.

According to him, the appendix A which indicated the exact location of what was agreed by both parties was not attached to the agreement documents sent to Parliament for approval and that it was the Palava News Paper who later leaked details of the agreement in its publication.

Parliament on Friday night, March 23, 2018, approved the controversial Ghana-US defence cooperation agreement which seeks to provide the United States access into the country to camp its military forces.

The approval was done by only Majority Members of Parliament because the Minority staged a walkout during the debate on the Floor of the House.

Ghana’s Cabinet had agreed to provide the US’ military troop a place near the Kotoka International Airport, and also give them unhindered access to some key installations following a Memorandum of Understanding between the government of Ghana and the US government.

And according to the former, DCE, work has already commenced on the US military base close to the Kotoka International Airport.

“This House adopts the report from the joint committee on defense and interior,” the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye said after the approval.

Speaking on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, the former DCE stated ”Bra Kwame I am telling you on authority that the Appendix A which stated the exact location of all the things given to them was not attached to the agreement that was sent to Parliament, it wasn’t part of it was rather the Palaver newspaper who published a detailed info with all the drawings and sites so a contractor has already started working on the US military base’’.
