US$72,000 Spent On Nana Takyiwa Appiah?

Whoever she was, she must have been a very important person for the Government to spend a whopping US$72,720.00 on her medical treatment in India.

A letter dated December 19, 2008 and signed by Mr. Kwadwo O. Mpiani, Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affair authorized the expenditure.

The letter gives no description of Priscilla Nana Takyiwa Appiah beyond her full name.

Sources close to the Kufuor administration say that her expenditure was authorized even after local doctors had indicated that she could not recover. The point is that the expenditure of close to US$73,000 on a terminally ill person can only amount to serious financial loss to the state.

The sources claim that the expenditure was incurred against good counsel from experts.
