UNIFIL GHANBATT 81 commemorates medals day

UNIFIL GHANBATT 81 on Thursday, 9th April, 2015 after completing Ninety (90) days mandated of the United Nations were officially awarded their United Nations Peace Medals.

The reviewing officer of the ceremony was the Deputy Force Commander, Brig Gen Tarundeep Kumar. He spoke on the effortless contribution of Ghana to the maintaining of peace and stability in the South of Lebanon and the Middle East as well as entire the sub-region over the decades. He commended GHANBATT for enforcing UNSCR 1701 by observing the Blue Line always and reportly promotly on any suspected activities as the conduct their patrols.

Present at the occasion was Ghana’s Honorary Consul General to Lebanon HE Michel Haddad and also the medals day delegation drawn from Ghana, which was led by the Chief of the Army Staff ,Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei, Commodore Godson Kwabla Zowonoo; the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Air Commodore Isaac Rockson Wayoe; Director General Plans, Research and Development, Group Captain Augustine Alfred Appiah; the Director of Engineering Air Force Headquarters, Colonel Francis Doe Ogbey; Deputy Director General Joint Operations, Captain Mubarick Ramadan the Aide-de-Camp to Chief of the Army Staff.

Some UNIFIL Staff Officers, Contingent and Commanding Officers of troops contributing Battalions, Local Leaders, Ghanaian nationals living in Lebanon and Friends of the GHANBATT were also at the august occasion.
