Takoradi, Dec. 2, GNA —The United Nations
Association of Ghana (UNAG) has disassociated itself from a group
calling itself Ghana United Nations Association (GUNA) that has
been registering people under the pretext of giving them loans.
This was contained in a press statement issued in Takoradi, signed
by Mrs. Jane Edna Phillips, Secretary General of UNAG, and copied
to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday.
Mrs. Phillips revealed that the chief architect behind that fraudulent
act, one Kwaku Isaiah, was in the grips of the police and cautioned the
public not to deal with any member of GUNA.
She stated that, the group asked people they had registered to pay
GHc30 for the processing of the loan facility.
Mrs. Philips added that, the group also asked people who wanted to
travel to Germany and Holland to pay GHc2,400 to enable them
to secure travelling documents for them.
This illegal group is using the name of the World Federation of the
United Nations Association (WFUNA) and the United Nations
Association of Ghana (UNAG) on their forms to deceive people, she
stated.
She therefore advised the public to report any member of GUNA
that would approach them to the police for their arrest.
