UG Alumni in North America pledge to support needy but brilliant students, commend Adonteng Boateng

The University of Ghana Alumni Association in North America (UGAANA), has concluded its third Biennial Reunion in Maryland, USA, with pledges of financial support for brilliant but needy students.

The three-day event, held from September 19–21, 2025, brought together alumni from across the United States and Canada to deliberate on the development of their alma mater, reconnect with colleagues and strengthen professional networks.

The Congress concluded with a fundraising dinner, attended by the Clerk of Ghana’s Parliament, Adjeitor, who urged future leaders to uphold ethics and integrity in leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof Nana Aba Amfo, also called on the alumni to continue their good work in sponsoring brilliant but needy students of the institution.

The theme for the reunion was: “Ethical Education for Transformational Leadership.”

Archbishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng, a Ghanaian-American theologian, preacher and philanthropist, as well as founder of the Divine Word International Ministries, was recognized as one of the scholarship donors.

He pledged to continue supporting the Association’s initiatives.

Currently, the University of Ghana Alumni Association in North America (UGAANA), is sponsoring six students.

Its goal is to sponsor 20 or more brilliant but needy students by 2027.
