UEW matriculates 3,336 students

Winneba (C/R) Jan. 12, GNA- The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw has said that the mission of the distance Education programmes of the University is to make quality education at all levels more accessible and relevant to the learning needs of Ghanaians.

Professor Asabere-Ameyaw said this at the matriculation of 3,336 students from the Southern Sector to undertake Diploma and post-Diploma in Basic Education at the University by distance learning.

They will take three years to complete the course.

The Southern Sector comprises learning centers in the Western, Central Greater Accra, Volta and Eastern Regions.

He said Distance Education was becoming widely accepted as a means for higher education to provide broader access and achieved cost efficiency.
