UEW admits 3,647 new students

Winneba (C/R) Sept. 26, GNA - The University of Education, Winneba, has offered admission to a total of 3,647 students to undertake undergraduate and post graduate programmes at its three campuses for the year 2009/2010.

Out of the number, 1,027 students were admitted to the College of Technology Education at Kumasi and 322 to the College of Agriculture Education at the Asante Mampong campus. The Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw said these at the Matriculation of 2,298 students at the Winneba campus of the University on Saturday. He said a total of 117 students were admitted to take post graduate and PHD courses and 97 of them have so far registered for their respective programmes.

Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw said the University made 75 percent of its admissions from among graduates of Senior High Schools. He said the University would continue in its efforts to increase female admissions.

Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw asked the new students to comply with all the conventions and regulations of the University as well as the laws of the country to ensure order and the protection of life and property. He said "Please avoid alcoholism, unbridled sexual lives, offensive dressing, drug abuse and the use of abusive language". Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw reminded the students that the matriculation oath enjoined them to be of good behaviour. Mr C. K. Acquah-Mensah admitted the matriculation oath to the students. 26 Sept. 09
