U.S. Military Team in Ghana for Liberia Force Study

A U.S. military team has arrived in Ghana to look at how best the United States can work with West African countries to keep the peace in Liberia, the U.S. embassy said.

West African countries have a plan to get 1,000 peacekeepers to Liberia within two weeks and want U.S. help. The United States is still deciding whether to send its own forces to the country ruined by nearly 14 years of violence.
