Two-year-old girl killed

A two-year-old girl met her untimely death last Tuesday when she fell from a vehicle.

The said vehicle, according to reports, ran over the girl who was travelling with her mother.

She was rushed to the hospital but died later at the health facility.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the story and said it happened on April 3, 2018, at about 1am.

She said the vehicle, Nissan Urvan mini bus with registration number CR 668-09 driven by one Isaac Archer Donkor was travelling from Shama to Sekondi with ten persons on board.

She narrated that the deceased, Princess Nhyira Andoh, was seated in the vehicle between her mother and the driver’s mate close to the passenger’s door.

Upon reaching Essipong, the mate opened the door for the driver to stop for a passenger to get on board and the little girl fell from the vehicle into the track of the rear tyres which ran over her head.

She was rushed to St. Benedict Hospital for treatment and later referred to Effia -Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi for further treatment.

She, however, died shortly on arrival. Her body has been deposited at the same hospital’s mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The PRO said the vehicle had been impounded at the station for testing.

“Suspects, driver’s mate Kwaku Matthew, driver Isaac Archer Donkor and the deceased mother Gladys Asmah are assisting Police in their investigations”, she noted.
