Two trapped to death by falling wall

Manso Nkwanta (Ash), May 27, GNA - Tragedy struck Manso-Nkwanta, the district capital of Amansie-West, on Wednesday night, as a falling wall trapped to death two people and left another injured.

The deceased were identified as Yaw Ahenkro, 40, a native of Denkyira-Beasease and six-month old Kwabena Sarpong.

Afua Amponsah, the 32-year old mother of the dead baby, is receiving treatment at the Manso-Nkwanta Health Centre for injuries suffered. According to an eyewitness, the accident happened at about 1900 hours.

The late Ahenkro was said to be holding the baby boy as he engaged in a chat with Afua behind the wall.

All of a sudden, it collapsed on them, trapping the three. Little Sarpong was pulled out of the rubble, lifeless, while Ahenkro was pronounced dead on arrival at the health centre.

The police at Manso-Nkwanta confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said the body of the late Ahenkro had been deposited at the Agroyesum Saint Martin's Hospital with that of the baby buried.
