Two persons have been arrested by the Police at the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centre in Accra following an intelligence tip-off received by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.

The arrests followed a report made to the Minister by two female twins who were BECE candidates. The twins provided evidence alleging that the suspects had lured them into paying money in exchange for assistance with their Senior High School (SHS) placement.

After receiving the information and reviewing the evidence, the Minister alerted the appropriate security authorities, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

The development comes as the Ministry of Education warns parents and students against individuals seeking to exploit the placement process for financial gain.

The Ministry reiterated that placement through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is free, and no parent or student should pay anyone in exchange for placement.

It urged parents, students and the general public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of extortion, fraud or attempts to manipulate the placement process to the appropriate authorities.

The Ministry also warned that individuals who attempt to exploit anxious parents and students during the placement exercise will be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
