Two people have reportedly been arrested for allegedly engaging in open defecation in Tema, in the Greater Accra Region.
According to an online report sighted by GhanaWeb on July 28, 2026, the two individuals were arrested at Tema Manhean after they were allegedly caught engaging in open defecation at the Beach 5 area, as authorities intensify efforts to clamp down on unsanitary practices in the community.
In a widely circulated video, the two individuals are seen in handcuffs while some bystanders are heard pleading with the authorities to forgive them.
A voice behind the camera is also heard asking one of the suspects why he did not use a public toilet but instead chose to defecate openly at the beach. In response, he said, "I am a stranger here."
The police subsequently escorted the two individuals from the scene.
