A Circuit Court at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region presided over His Lordship Alexander Graham has jailed two farmers to five years imprisonment each for stealing.

Abdul Razak 24 and Kwasi Poku 22 were found guilty of stealing contrary to section 124(1) of the criminal offence ACT 1960(ACT 29).

According to the facts of the case as presented to the court by prosecutor, Chief Inspector Samson Oduro, the complainant who is a businessman parked his Royal motorbike with registration number M-13-BA-1002 at his shop which was stolen by the suspects.

He lodged a complaint with the police the same day while making efforts to retrieve the bike which he later spotted at a fitting shop at Duayaw Nkwanta.

An apprentice he met at the shop told him two boys brought it from Techimantia for sale but his master who suspected foul play asked them to come for the money the following day after they had agreed on the amount.

The owner of the shop in turn alerted the police at Duayaw Nkwanta and when the two later emerged to take their booty were arrested by the police and in their caution statement admitted the offence.

The court after trial found them guilty of the offence and sentenced them to 5 years imprisonment after the failed to pay a fine of GH¢3,000 each.
