Two members fight in church

Suhum, July 12, GNA - The Police at Suhum are investigating an alleged assault case involving two members of the Apostle Continuation Church, popularly known as “Jesus Jesus,” who fought in the church last Sunday.

The two members, Akua Serwah and Elder E. K. Yeboah, who sustained various degrees of injuries, were treated and discharged at the Suhum Government Hospital.

A Police source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that both Serwah and Elder Yeboah attended the same church.

According to the source, Joyce Owusu, a sister of Serwah, reported to Elder Yeboah that the sister (Serwah) was not paying electricity bills in the house and also consulted “juju men’’ after church service.

The source said Elder Yeboah, who was not happy with the report, informed the Pastor of the church, Reverend S. T. Ofori and other elders.

He said Serwah was later invited by the Pastor and elders, including Elder Yeboah to deliberate on the issue.

The source said during the deliberation there was a misunderstanding and Serwah started to insult the Pastor and Elder Yeboah, a situation which later degenerated into a fight between Serwah and Elder Yeboah, but the two were later separated and they both rushed to the police to make a report.

Meanwhile, report reaching the GNA said the pastor and the elders of the church are negotiating with the police to withdraw the case for settlement at home.
