Two die in helicopter crash at Tema Community 1 - Reports

Panic and shock swept through Tema Community One after a Sky Arrow microlight helicopter crashed into a school compound on Monday afternoon, March 16, 2026, leaving at least two people feared dead.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Site 18 in the busy residential area, where the aircraft is said to have gone down inside a school park.

Eyewitnesses say the helicopter suddenly descended and crashed, sending residents and students in the area into a state of alarm.

Initial reports indicate that the victims are believed to be the pilots who were on board the aircraft. Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service reportedly arrived quickly at the scene to assess the situation and begin rescue and recovery operations.

A senior officer from the fire service confirmed that two bodies had been retrieved from the crash site, raising fears that both pilots on board may have lost their lives in the tragic accident.

Emergency personnel immediately evacuated all teachers and pupils from the school to ensure their safety as authorities secured the area.

The crash site has since been cordoned off to prevent interference while investigators work to determine what caused the helicopter to go down.

Authorities are yet to officially confirm the identities of the victims as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
