A gun battle Wednesday morning between a resident and suspected armed men believed to be robbers has left two reportedly dead and a pregnant woman injured in Tinga a small mining community in Bole.

Detail of the incident is still sketchy as police told Kasapa News they were en route to the scene.

According to District Police Crime Cfficer ASP Dartey, police personnel have been deployed to the area. An eye witness who spoke to a local radio station said the armed men fired sporadically at their targets but a store keeper also returned fire killing two of the suspected thieves.

A pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet during the exchanges and was rushed to the Bole Hospital.

This is the second armed robbery attempt in the community in a week at Tinga.

The first attempt happened a couple of days ago and today’s incident happens to be second plot.

The community is in a great state of shock, fear and pandemonium and are profusely calling on the District security apparatus to speed up in beefing up security to the area.
