Two children have been shot dead in a suspected gun attack at Krabonso-Adiambra in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East region.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 11, 2019, at about 1:00 pm when the duo was on the farm with their relatives.

They have been named as 10-year-old Gabriel Yinye and Kanto Yinye aged 9 both primary one pupils at Adiambra D/A primary school.

The two reportedly left their relatives in search of fruits when they were shot by unidentified assailants.

Gabriel died instantly at the crime scene after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

His body has since been deposited at the Kintampo Government Hospital morgue.

Kanto Yinye who was in critical condition was referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman — about an hour drive from the Kintampo Government Hospital where he was initially sent for treatment.

Nurses on duty at the time said the referral was necessitated by a revelation through X-ray that there were about ten pellets in Kanto’s body, six of which were located in his pelvis, two (2) in his chest and two (2) in one of his arms.

He was, however, pronounced dead Tuesday morning by medics at the facility.

Narrating the incident to Ghanacrusader.com, brother of one of the deceased, James Yinye said they have begun processes to convey home the bodies for burial.

The family has since reported the matter to the police.

“Now we are waiting for the police to help release the bodies for burial. We are very devastated over the development and we pray the police will do a thorough investigation into the matter”, Yinye who was at the Kintampo Government Hospital stated.
