Two chiefs join Volta Region Development Agency Board

Accra, Feb. 11, GNA - Two chiefs have joined the Board of the Volta Region Development Agency (VORDA), according to a statement issued in Accra on Thursday.

It said Nana Owusu-Afari, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Group of Companies and Togbe Patamia Dzekley VIII, Paramount Chief of Bator and Chief Executive of the First Ghana Building Society, were appointed at a meeting of the Board. The appointments mean the Board has reached its full compliment of 11 members.

"Nana Owusi-Afari and Togbe Patamia would bring their immense experiences and widely acknowledged business, managerial and economic development skills to the work of the Board and the development of the Volta Region," the statement said.

Nana Owusu-Afari is the President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), a co-founder and Director of Amalgamated Bank Ltd, who also serves on the Board of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA). The statement said with the Board membership now fully complete, its immediate priority would be to see the full delivery of the five-year Volta Region Economic Development Plan, particularly the implementation of its first three million-dollar flagship projects at Dambai, Denu and Ho. The Board of VORDA is under the chairmanship Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State and President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs. Other members are: Nana Soglo Alloh IV, Otekple of Likpe Traditional Area and Vice President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs; Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, Fiaga and President of the Anfoega Traditional Council, Togbe Patamia Dzekley VIII, Paramount Chief of Bator Traditional Area and Nana Mprah Besemuna, Krachiwura.

The others are Togbi Kporku III, Dufia of Alakple, Nana Owusu-Afari, Nkosuohene of the Worawora Traditional Area, Mamaga Akosua I, also known as Cornelia von Wulfing, Ngoyifiaga of Sasadu Traditional Area, Mr Ernest Kwame Nyabge, a public sector management expert, Mr Victor Chubby Larbi, a Business Executive, a geologist and oil trader and Mr Appiah-Danquaah Kufuor, a business executive and economist. The Volta Region Economic Development Plan (VORDEP) is the first economic plan which mobilises all the people of the Volta Region in a collective assault on poverty and deprivation. It also provides as excellent opportunity for all Voltarians in particular the young people, to help the future of the region and build a better for the next generation. 11 Feb. 10
