Two bodies provide boreholes for health facilities

World Vision Ghana (WVG) and Voltic Ghana Limited have provided two boreholes to two health facilities in the Garu-Tempane District of the Upper East Region.

The WVG is a child focus Non-Governmental Organization, while Voltic Ghana Limited is the pacesetter in the bottle and natural water business in the Country.

The two mechanised boreholes would benefit the Worinyanga Health Centre, the Akara Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound and nearby communities.

At separate inaugural ceremonies, the Director of Operation of WVG , the Reverend Daniel Salifu, who represented the National Director, said World Vision, since its operation in the Region, had contributed significantly in the areas of Education, Health , Food Security , Child Protection and Sanitation.

He said that for the year 2015, WVG had invested about $3,249,241, which had impacted positively on the lives of about 253,000 people out of which 93,000 were children.

“Last year, World Vision Ghana provided 56 new boreholes, nine limited water mechanized systems and rehabilitated 22 old boreholes to enable about 60,000 people gain access to safe drinking water in the communities in our operational areas in the Region,” he said.

He said partnering with Voltic Ghana Limited to provide water facilities to the two health facilities was part of WVG efforts to complement the Government’s efforts at addressing the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) gaps in the area, and called on the Management of the facilities to take good care of them.

Mr Cyrus deGraft- Johnson , the Corporate Affairs Manager of Voltic Ghana Limited, said the Company was happy to partner with WVG which has at the forefront helping to support government’s efforts at addressing WASH related issues.

He said the Company’s focus, through its Sustainable Development Agenda, was on the positive transformation and uplifting of communities by supporting them in the areas of Basic Education, Health and Social Development.

Mr deGraft - Johnson said that over the years, Voltic Ghana Limited had invested a lot of money in the areas of Basic Education , Health and Social Development; all aimed at transforming and uplifting communities.

Voltic Ghana Limited, through WVG invested GH?800,000.00 in the procurement of dual desks for deprived schools, partnered with WVG to provide medical equipment and renovated a clinic at Nyameani in the Ashanti Region.

The two also provided educational materials for some deprived schools at Nkwanta in the Volta Region as well as potable drinking water to the Meyah School in Accra.

Mr Albert Alalzugah, the District Chief Executive, commended organisations for supporting the District Assembly in filling the WASH gaps of the District.
