Volcare and Courage Foundations, both Ho based Non-Governmental Organisations committed to social interventions for the vulnerable in society, have adopted the Children’s Ward of the Ho Teaching Hospital.

Mr Courage Dei-Zanga and Mr Bless Drefenu, Directors of Courage and Volcare respectively, on Saturday cleared bills totaling GHS600.00 for four children held by the Hospital for nonpayment of medical bills.

Seven-year-old Debora Agbavor, one of the children was allegedly abandoned by her parents at the facility since November 2018.

The NGOs also presented items including purified water, toiletries, and snack foods to children in the ward.

Mr Dei-Zanga said the attention of the Organisations was drawn to the plight of the children during a May Day visit to the facility this year.

He said the management of the Hospital was contacted, after which the Organisations raised funds to rescue the children whose schooling had been affected and social life restricted to the confines of the Hospital.

Mr Dei-Zanga said the Organisations would ensure that no child was detained at the Hospital and help keep the children's ward conducive for medical care.

The two NGOs had been working together on water, sanitation, and other social projects, and are active organisers of blood donations to stock the Regional blood bank.
