Tuffour urges NPP members to 'fight' NDC intimidation

Dr. Amoako Tuffour, a member of the Council of Elders of the opposition New Patriotic Party has cautioned the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop intimidating and attacking their members in the ongoing limited registration exercise.

The leading member of the elephant family is accusing the ruling of government of conniving with the Electoral Commission (EC) and the police to frustrate observers of the NPP in the ongoing limited registration exercise.

According to him, they have uncovered schemes by the NDC to have their way through the exercise by busing foreigners and minors to registration centres, but the NPP will be vigilant and ensure they prevent the illegality.

Dr. Amoako Tuffour in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio said government and the Electoral Commission are working together to undermine their support base to their benefit.

He charged observers of the party to remain vigilant, courageous and stand firm, as no attempt by the NDC will scare them from monitoring the ongoing exercise.

Dr. Amoako Tuffour said "Be vigilant. Do not be intimidated because of what is going on. The NDC cannot undermine our support base in the ongoing registration exercise. We are aware of their schemes to undermine our support base but do not be weary, fight on, do not give up the fight. If they kill a thousand, a thousand will come back to fight."

His comments follows the detention of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi, who is alleged to have assaulted the Manhyia North NPP MP, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah, and his constituency secretary, Mr. Felix Ibrahim.

He was granted bail in the sum of GHc20, 000 by the Asokwa Magistrate Court yesterday. The complainants wrote officially to the police and the court to withdraw all the charges leveled against Chairman Wontumi.
