Tsikata To Hold Press Conference Today

The former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Tsatsu Tsikata will be addressing a press conference on Thursday to react to allegations of impropriety and financial mismanagement leveled against him by the government. Last month, the Minister of Energy, Albert Kan Dapaah ordered a forensic audit into the activities of the GNPC, which led to the loss of $47 million to the state.

He said the investigations would be carried out in eight weeks within the framework of the law, after which a report was submitted to the Attorney General’s Office for advice. The NPP government also blamed the recent sale of a GNPC rig ship to pay off huge debt owed a French Bank, Societe Generale on the hedging activities of Mr. Tsikata.

Mr Tsikata was reported to have fled the country fearing prosecution for alleged mismanagement, but according to him, he has nothing to hide and has therefore decided to cut short a trip to Norway to answer the allegations.
