Truck kills man

Disaster struck when a Ford Cargo Truck ran over the head of a mechanic at Suame Magazine in Kumasi.

The mechanic, Kwame Joseph asked the driver of the fateful cargo truck which he was repairing, to move forward a little to enable him check something. By then he (Kwame) was under the truck. The driver moved the vehicle but unfortunately Kwame’s head got trapped under the tyre in the process, killing him instantly.

The driver of the vehicle who was, reportedly not aware, was alerted to the horrific incident by the shouts of the frightened people standing by; who were mostly car mechanics.

Adama Awudu, the driver then moved the car away from Joseph’s head but it was too late as he had already given up the ghost.

The body of the deceased mechanic had since been deposited at the morgue whilst the police had arrested Adama for questioning.

Supt Frank Aborakwa, the Ashanti Regional Police MTTD Commander, disclosed the pathetic story to DAILY GUIDE in a chat.

According to him, Adama visited the Suame Magazine to repair his Ford Cargo Truck with registration number GT 1826-H.

The police chief said Joseph was under the truck repairing the air breaking system of the cylinder of the car whilst Adama sat in the car.

In the course of the repairs, Joseph allegedly told Adama to move the car for him to check something but sadly the car ran over his head.

Supt Aborakwa noted that people at the scene shouted to alert Adama about the disaster so he moved the car for the deceased to be rescued only to realise that he had died already.
