Long waiting times and inconvenience of travelling long distances to NHIS District Offices to renew membership will soon be a thing of the past as NHIA introduces a new innovation using mobile phones with a short code for renewal of membership.

The CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Samuel Annor, as part of his working visit of the Ashanti Region, has assured members of an introduction of a Short Code (*842*10#) for renewal of membership amongst others.

This innovation not only offers convenience to the member but also allows members to check membership eligibility period, NHIS Benefit packages and Medicine list.

The technology is currently being piloted at Asuogyaman and East Mamprusi Districts and will be rolled out in a phased approach nationally.

Members will no longer be required to be at the NHIA offices to renew thier membership.
