Residents of Nkawkaw Zongo in the Eastern Region are gripped with fear after masked gunmen brutally shot and killed three Fulani herdsmen.
According to a report by UTV, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the suspects, who are currently at large, arrived on motorcycles wearing masks to conceal their identities.
They reportedly approached the victims where they were seated and drinking, and opened fire on them.
Two of the victims reportedly died on the spot, while the third attempted to flee but was pursued by the assailants and fatally shot.
In the process, a fourth person sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
The report further indicated that the victims had gathered at a spot within the Muslim community to drink and share tea when they were ambushed and killed.
Security agencies have since launched investigations into the incident to ascertain the motive behind the gruesome killing of the victims, as the reason for the attack remains unknown at the time of filing this report.
The incident, believed to have occurred in the late hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, has left residents of the community in a state of shock as they struggle to understand what could have triggered such a brutal attack.
