Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Council, says henceforth documents on sale of lands by heads of family and chiefs would be endorsed solely by the traditional councils to serve as principal witness to avoid legal tussles.

He said the move was to streamline issues concerning sale of lands by heads of family and others to curb alarming land disputes in the Central region.

The Omanhene said the Regional House of Chiefs decided that all lands belonged to families except those vested in government.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku made this known when he addressed the last traditional Council meeting of the year 2019 to take stock of the past year and adopt new strategies ahead towards 2020 development of Agonaman at Nyakrom.

He said the land disputes in the Central regional were alarming and House of Chiefs, therefore, decided to adopt strategies that would help to reduce land matters.

The Omanhene said the Chiefs in the region decided to bring land matters to the barest minimum to enhance development in the various traditional councils to promote human development.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku stated that the Central region needed to attract foreign investors, saying that if there were land disputes lingering in one particular traditional Council, it would be difficult to get expected investments to create jobs and wealth.

The Omanhene told chiefs and heads of families that the lands were for families and not for them alone to sell without consent of the chiefs and family heads.

He said that it is obvious that chiefs were not owners of the land and it was for the entire family including; heads of family and Queen mothers to ensure peace and stability.

He said the sale of lands should be made transparent to avert conflicts and legal tussles on families and traditional Councils.

The Omanhene said plans were advanced to organise training workshops for chiefs, Queen mothers, and other traditional Staffs to enable them play their expected roles to promote development of the traditional councils
