Traders Stage Naked Demo

…Over Akufo-Addo’s belligerent posturing

By Ethel Mensah/Agyemang Joycelyn

Traders at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle are unremittingly lacing their boots to stage a massive naked demonstration against the defeated Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over what they describe as needless incitement of his party supporters to violence.

The traders, numbering over 2000 complained of a drastic nosedive in their sales as a result of Nana Akufo-Addo’s belligerent posturing which has highly goaded his followers to butcher innocent Ghanaians when they embarked on their supposed peaceful demonstration at Obra Spot to protest against the electoral results.

According to them, due to the unprovoked attacks the NPP hoodlums mounted on innocent Ghanaians, “our consumers who come to buy from us are feeling jittery and apprehensive of trooping to the market to buy from us. They fear they might fall victim to the massacre”

“We have only a week to Christmas, yet our customers are not coming to buy the goods…we’ve gone for loans from the Bank to buy goods just to make ends meet…when we call some of our consumers on phone to inquire why they’ve abandon us, all they tell is that they are afraid to come to the market” a frustrated trader exclaimed

In light of this worrying development, which has the tendency of throwing the traders into a state of grave economic deprivation, the traders have threatened to awash the principal streets of Accra with their naked bodies to demonstrate to Nana Akufo-Addo that “his insensitiveness is killing our business”

According to them, with Christmas just around the corner, it was expected that people will be trooping to the various market in their numbers, especially the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to buy goods for the Christmas, but to their utter dismay this year has not been the same.

“If Nana Addo thinks he was cheated in the election, he should go to court as he has stated earlier, why has he commissioned his supporters to beat people and driving our customers away…we are not going to sit down and allow this to happen. We will show Nana our naked bodies for him to see that we are serious and we will not allow him to blot our business simply because of the tiny power he wants that cannot even charge a cell phone battery”

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan last Sunday evening declared the 2012 presidential elections in favour of Mr Mahama with a percentage vote of 50.70% and 47.74% for the opposition party's candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Following the declaration of the results, Nana Akufo-Addo through his NPP supporters have been engaged in acts of terrorism and sabotage of the State and undermining personal security of citizens.
